Water campus Wetsus Leeuwarden
The Frisian architectural cooperative GEAR, consisting of AchterboschZantman Architects, Borren Staalenhoef Architects, Jelle de Jong architects and TWA architects, made the design for the pentagonal volume. It is remarkable that this distinctive facade cladding was only added later in the design process. The sun protection slats are three-dimensionally modeled and computer-controlled milled.
The school building for secondary education opened in 2015. WaterCampus Leeuwarden tries to arouse interest by bringing students into contact with the versatile world of water during their school career through inspiring encounters and activities. Photo John Gundlach.
